Ptarmigan in full moon

A magical moment where everything fell into place. I set out early in the morning to spend the entire day in the mountains, hoping to find ptarmigans. I knew I would have a full moon to work with when dusk arrived, so I mapped all the ptarmigans I found to predict if they were in a spot where I could position myself to align them with the moon. After a whole day of searching, I had a few locations that I knew would work, provided the ptarmigans were still there when the moon rose above the horizon. On this particular day, the moon began its ascent just an hour after sunset, which meant there was still a bit of light left to illuminate the ptarmigan while it was dark enough for the moon to show off its beautiful glow. Everything lined up perfectly this day. Half an hour after sunset, I found ptarmigans at one of the locations I had previously scouted. And after almost an hour of waiting, I managed to position myself perfectly in line with the moon and the ptarmigan, as it sat there beautifully and proudly, calmly gazing out over the landscape.
